We made chicken using our Brooks bbq modified recipe. The chicken took an apple cider bath for a while, rubbed with a dry rub, and basted three times with a white bbq sauce of my own making. I paired it with rice simmered in chicken stock and added corn.

Update on the church that George Paris attended and it's rebuilding efforts.

St. Nicholas is irrevocably tied to the future of Ground Zero. The church cannot rebuild or even draw up design plans until all of the complex ownership, security and architectural issues surrounding the World Trade Center site are sorted out.

What happened that day:

On September 11th, as No.2 World Trade Center collapsed, the entire weight of this enormous structure came down on St. Nicholas Church, completely obliterating the building and its contents.

For the 2,996 project, bloggers were assigned names at random.

I have George Paris.

The first sentence I read, that he was born on November 11, hit me. That is my wedding anniversary. It is also Veteran's Day.

George Paris was born on November 11, 1967 to Michail and Rose. He grew up in Brooklyn and Queens in the Greek Orthodox tradition. He loved to play baseball and football with his friends in Brooklyn, and the friends he made lasted his whole lifetime.

When he got older he became interested in playing the drums. Later on he played with many bands in nightclubs around Manhattan. After high school, he got his Bachelor's degree in Business from Baruch College

In 1990 he met Christina, and they dated for 11 years while they both went to school, Christina studying Veterinary Technology and George studying Business and Finance at C.W. Post campus of Long Island University. During those years they had fun taking Christina's daughter Stacey to Disneyland and other places, horseback riding, hiking, traveling to Greece and London, going to plays and comedy clubs in the city, and just being in love.

George and Christina got married in June of 2001, and had baby Constantina the same year. She had only three months with her father. George was working for Cantor Fitzgerald, and only one semester away from his MBA degree when he was taken from this world by terrible hatred. He is very much missed by his family and friends, but will always be remembered for his love of life, silly sense of humor, loyalty, and generosity. Rest in peace, George.

Only three months with his daughter, and only 33 years old, with a life unfolding.

The missing worked for companies that included Cantor Fitzgerald, Morgan Stanley, Carr Futures, The Washington Group, and AON.

The tiny church building was constructed around 1832. It originally was a residence and later housed a tavern before the founders of the parish purchased the structure. It measured 22 feet wide in front, 20 feet, 11 inches in the back, and about 56 feet long. It was 35 feet tall. On three sides it was bounded by a parking lot.

Greek immigrants established St. Nicholas Church in 1916 and purchased the structure for $25,000. It was one of two old calendar parishes under the Archdiocese until 1993 when it switched to the Gregorian calendar. Among the church's unique characteristics were its small size and its icons, which were a gift from the last czar of Russia, Nicholas II.

The city of Bari, Italy, where the relics of St. Nicholas were originally bestowed, has donated $250,000. The government of Greece has contributed $750,000 to these efforts, and the Ecumenical Patriarchate has given $50,000. The Governor of the State of New York, George Pataki, met with the Archbishop and pledged his support for including a new St. Nicholas in the redevelopment of the World Trade Center site.

but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age. Homes have been lost; jobs shed; businesses shuttered. Our health care is too costly; our schools fail too many; and each day brings further evidence that the ways we use energy strengthen our adversaries and threaten our planet.

Well thanks for that passive-aggressive analysis! What the heck does that even mean? How were these things lost exactly? Unlike Truman, you cannot state the problems precisely as he named communism as a great enemy. If you cannot frame a problem, how can you address a solution?

What the cynics fail to understand is that the ground has shifted beneath them—that the stale political arguments that have consumed us for so long no longer apply.

Nice blame there. What "cynics"? To whom are you referring? And WHAT stale arguments no longer apply? Again TO WHAT ARE YOU REFERRING? Are we supposed to guess? By cynics, I am guessing Republicans, and that the ground shifted beneath them by your election? Guess what? I think YOU are about to see the ground shift again this November.

The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works—whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified. Where the answer is yes, we intend to move forward.

Question asked. Question answered. The government is too big. Got that? And it doesn't work BECAUSE it is not up to the government to help someone find a job, or health care, or retirement. That is up to the INDIVIDUAL.

Nor is the question before us whether the market is a force for good or ill. Its power to generate wealth and expand freedom is unmatched, but this crisis has reminded us that without a watchful eye, the market can spin out of control—the nation cannot prosper long when it favors only the prosperous.

Generating wealth and expanding freedom is a crisis. Ok. Gotcha. Expansion. Has any previous President referred to the EXPANSION of freedom? Very bizarre choice of words, which are truly belittling to the concept of freedom and liberty. Expansion connotes conquest. Our rights come from God, as described in, oh, I don't know, the Declaration of Independence, and from there, our freedom. We FAVOR the prosperous and the nation fails? How does that work exactly?

The success of our economy has always depended not just on the size of our Gross Domestic Product, but on the reach of our prosperity; on the ability to extend opportunity to every willing heart—not out of charity, but because it is the surest route to our common good.

Surest route? Common good? And is it YOU who gets to define what the "common good" is? The success of our economy is dependent on what? Again, clarification please. What do you mean? The reach of our prosperity? Are you saying that equal opportunity, not equal share, is the surest route? It has been two years for you now. You just said we cannot favor the prosperous and in the next breath (or soon thereafter) the REACH of prosperity. Got it. You are going to share the prosperity of others with the less so. You decide. You say it right here in your inaugural speech what your intent really is.

To the Muslim world, we seek a new way forward, based on mutual interest and mutual respect.

Nice shout out! How about defining those "mutual interests and mutual respect"? Where is the respect from the Muslim world to us? When? How? Examples please!

To the people of poor nations, we pledge to work alongside you to make your farms flourish and let clean waters flow; to nourish starved bodies and feed hungry minds. And to those nations like ours that enjoy relative plenty, we say we can no longer afford indifference to the suffering outside our borders; nor can we consume the world’s resources without regard to effect. For the world has changed, and we must change with it.

Well, when have we EVER turned a blind eye to the suffering of the world? Examples please! Who are the first responders when there is a tsunami? An earthquake? A volcano? Good grief what platitudes! Is this a Hallmark card? Consume the world's resources? How about consuming our OWN and drill in Alaska? How about the coal industry here in the US? How about drilling in the gulf?

In questions of power, then, let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution.
