General Pace

Harkin, D-Iowa, said he wanted to give Pace a chance to amend his remarks in light of his retirement.

"It's a matter of leadership, and we have to be careful what we say," Harkin said.

Pace noted that the U.S. Military Code of Justice prohibits homosexual activity as well as adultery. Harkin said, "Well, then, maybe we should change that."

Change what? The moral code? Smooth move.

How about changing your EXPECTATIONS there Harkin D-Iowa? How about expecting people to NOT cheat? Or engage in behavior that the military has said, you know, umm, no thanks. You can keep Scrotum Man, thank you very much.

Sheesh.

Amadinnerjacket. Why was he allowed to travel?

Well, in my previous post, it seems that Iran might be a bit nervous. Good.

Over the last few days, I have been, like most people, completely disgusted that this country allowed Ammadinnerjacket even in country. I have wondered why the President would allow this to happen.

WHY?!?!?!?!

This feels like yet another slap in the face from Bush to the American people. Something akin to the immigration reform. He completely misunderstood and misjudged the American people. My personal belief is that the President sincerely wants to help decent people to succeed. I do not believe that he in any way has the Kennedy view of immigration, that he needs people to mow his lawn.

Now that some time has passed, and looking at some recent current events, and the fact that he is the PRESIDENT and might possibly have more information than I have, my opinion is different, although my emotional response to this event has not changed.

What changed?

Ammadinnerjacket and his rhetoric.

I am wondering that he came here to speak, made the same speeches, clearly defining his insanity. I noticed the lizards on LGF liveblogging the event, that they predicted what he would say before he said it. He is now recorded for all time his goofy crap. And if you can watch the recap, he looked genuinely surprised when people laughed when he said that there were no homosexuals in Iran.

I am sure that Bush understands that he was making threats, calling people to come to Islam or die, and all the rest. If WE knew what he was going to say, then Bush did. If WE knew his intent, then Bush did.

I am starting to suspect, that the President is two steps ahead. He knew the Israelis were going to take out the Syrian weapons cache or whatever it was. He knows that the Iranians are now VERY nervous and probably very pissed off that Ammadinnerjacket came over here and poked the bear.

World events are going to get very interesting.

We will win. That is the plan.

Ammadinnerjacket wants his 12th imam? Feh. Guess again.

One of the things I am learning in Catholic class is that God can make something good out of anything. He will for this horrible event that just happened too. What it is, I don't know, but it will.

Contrast and compare

Silence and Panic
One of India's top ranking generals assigned to liaise with the Iranian military recently returned to New Delhi from several days in Tehran - in a state of complete amazement.

"Everyone in the government and military can only talk of one thing," he reports. "No matter who I talked to, all they could do was ask me, over and over again, ‘Do you think the Americans will attack us?' ‘When will the Americans attack us?' ‘Will the Americans attack us in a joint operation with the Israelis?' How massive will the attack be?' on and on, endlessly. The Iranians are in a state of total panic."

And that was before September 6. Since then, it's panic-squared in Tehran. The mullahs are freaking out in fear. Why? Because of the silence in Syria.

On September 6, Israeli Air Force F-15 and F-16s conducted a devastating attack on targets deep inside Syria near the city of Dayr az-Zawr. Israel's military censors have muzzled the Israeli media, enforcing an extraordinary silence about the identity of the targets. Massive speculation in the world press has followed, such as Brett Stephens' Osirak II? in yesterday's (9/18) Wall St. Journal.

Gold
Hmmm ... seems somebody with an awful lot of money has put some markers into play in the stock market, betting on an enormous drop in share prices with 4 weeks of 9/4. We’re talking 50% or more, or that somebody is going to be out a whole huge lotta money - about 700 MILLION DOLLARS (damn, we need a Dr. Evil emoticon for moments like this!)

Now, this has happened before. Once. Just before 9/11. Yep, the terrorists went short, and made a fortune when the market tumbled.

The entity or individual offering these sales can only make money if the market drops 30%-50% within the next four weeks. If the market does not drop, the entity or individual involved stands to lose over $1 billion just for engaging in these contracts! Clearly, someone knows something big is going to happen BEFORE the options expire on Sept. 21.

I slog through the blogs so you don't have to. WHAT was up Sept 6, 2007? What was accomplished? Probably much. We will never know for certain. Read them both.

Michelle Malkin and the outrage for today

From Michelle Malkin's site. She has a complete round up of events in NY today.

Liberal Fairy Tales

Oh my this was a hoot!
Once upon a time, in a land they called America, a little girl was born.

This little girl was so very beautiful, so exceptional, that her loving parents named her Snow White. Truly, her lustrous black hair and limpid dark eyes were the perfect compliment to her exquisite ivory skin. And as lovely as she was on the outside, she was even more beautiful within; her sweet, sunny personality absolutely melted everyone who saw her.

In her early childhood, her parents saw that she was taught all the important things — loving obedience, respect for others, politeness and ladylike behavior, and a child-like faith in God. These things she actually liked, and though she was quite playful and sunny, she exuded character and intelligence.

Then she met the Seven Dwarfs.

They’d been tagged with this name because they seemed so weird and insignificant; but they always clustered together, bound by strange, liberal and sometimes seditious beliefs. Some of them were teachers and others members of what was called a "civil liberties union." Somehow, they steadily gained and exerted mysterious influence. Their names were Sneaky, Dopey, Smarmy, Angry, Sleazy, Grouchy, and Dork.
Pat Boone has a way with words. Didn't know that was by Pat Boone, did you? Well, read it all. Good points!

In keeping with the memorial theme.....

The unidentified substance that was found splashed on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial earlier this month was the result of vandalism, the U.S. Park Police said today.

...

“We’re purposefully going to take our time,” he said.
PURPOSEFULLY take our TIME?
What, is that code for "we-are-going-to-drag-our-feet-until-you-all-forget-about-it"?

Don't bet on it.

Where is Elvis when you need him?

USS Arizona Memorial

Creating the Memorial

The Origins

After the end of World War II, many individuals recognized the need for a memorial to the dead of December 7th, 1941. Navy personnel sought a tribute to the sailors who died at Pearl Harbor, others sought to commemorate the Japanese attack itself.

......

Fundraising

The public law stipulated that the monument would be built without federal funding. The Pacific War Memorial Commission was tasked with raising the $500,000 required it build the structure. Several organizations and individuals helped in the effort to raise the required amount. In 1958, the Territory of Hawaii contributed the initial $50,000. On December 3rd, 1958 the popular television series, “This is Your Life” hosted by Ralph Edwards featured Samuel Fuqua, Medal of Honor recipient and the senior surviving officer from the USS Arizona. This broadcast kicked off the public fundraising campaign. Over $95,000 was raised for the new permanent structure. Three years later, singing idol Elvis Presley hosted a benefit concert on March 25, 1961 at Pearl Harbor’s Bloch Arena, raising over $64,000. The Fleet Reserve Association (FRA) partnered with the Revell Model Company to sell plastic models of the battleship USS Arizona. Enclosed inside the kit was donation information on the instruction sheet. This led to a contribution of over $40,000. Finally, on September 6th, 1961, freshman Hawaii Senator Daniel Inouye secured federal funding, which contribute the final $150,000 to complete the construction. In the end, public money was required to meet the goal of the PWMC. The legislation stated that the Memorial was “to be maintained in honor and commemoration of the members of the Armed Forces of the United States who gave their lives to their country during the attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on December 7, 1941.”

United 93 Memorial

The people coming to Shanksville have changed the temporary memorial; visitors have adopted the custom of leaving things behind. The fence is covered with tiny tributes, everything from firemen's helmets to baseball caps to crucifixes to prayer cards. Near ground-level it is not uncommon to see collections of Matchbox cars and other toys left by children. There is a 15-foot cross by the flagpoles now, an array of benches bearing the names of the dead, and a set of 40 small wooden "Freedom Angels." The county administers the temporary memorial, removing and storing mementos when they become weather-beaten and keeping a catalogue of every item that has been left behind.

Let the people of Shanksville manage the 93 memorial, and keep the feds out of it. Who wants the Crecsent of Embrace on this site? The design "winner" is crap. It would have to IMPROVE to become crap.

And WHERE is there a patron celebrity for this cause? When Elvis died, any sense of decency died with him. Who knew his politics? The country called him and he went, without a whimper, even if it meant the loss of his career (which never happened).

We need a patron for this memorial.

And who knew that Elvis contributed so much to the Arizona Memorial?

Thank you, Elvis.

Countdown to when Whoopi melts down in 3,2,1

Whoopi Goldberg used her first day on the daytime chat show Tuesday to defend football star Michael Vick in his dogfighting case.

Goldberg said that "from where he comes from" in the South, dogfighting isn't that unusual.
....
In the Vick discussion, Goldberg served notice that she won't shy away from controversy.

Co-host Joy Behar looked horrified at Goldberg.

"How about dog torture and dog murdering?" Behar asked.

For many people, dogs are sport, Goldberg replied, and it appeared it took awhile for Vick to realize that he was up against serious charges.
The definition of moral equivalence. Vick should be EXCUSED for his behavior because dog fighting is "where he comes from"? Are you kidding? Joy Behar was right to be aghast at those comments. And Whoopi did NOT answer the torture and murder question, that dogs are sport? That was her answer? SPORT? Did Vick NOT know it was illegal? Yes he did. He tried to get out of the charges.

BaBa WaWa is already figuring out how to dump Whoopi, she sees it coming now.

Let's put the fox in charge of the hen house

Finally, I’d ask two simple questions: (a) Should Tom Lantos, a Holocaust survivor, stay silent rather than ask Rep. Ellison why he hasn’t denounced the Muslim American Society for the anti-semitic remarks posted on their website? and (b) Shouldn’t Rep. Ellison be required to chastise the Minnesota chapter of the Muslim American Society before being admitted to this task force?
There is NO reason for Ellison to be on this task force.

Hence, the name of this blog.

Bush Address the Troops

Bush spoke to the troops today. I am continually uplifted when he speaks the way he spoke today. He said that Americans will not abandon Iraqis. He is right, especially for this American.

For stories like this:
A routine meeting on Aug. 18 became a saga of tragedy and heroism when a young Iraqi man gave his life to save his family and his U.S. Army friends.

The soldiers he saved that day say they will never forget the man’s sacrifice.
A Muslim in God's Heaven, I say.

And lest we forget:

Katie Couric must be spitting nickels to be upstaged this way, by the way, with the visit from the President and the warm welcome he received. Her rage must be something to behold today. All that planning and promotion, right down the drain.

Great minds think alike!

Dennis Prager
Only strong moral religion can defeat strong immoral religion. To his credit, when I challenged the aforementioned Sam Harris by noting that religious Jews and Christians are far more likely to confront Islamists than secularists are, he agreed that this is indeed the case. But with Islamic religious violence increasing, Western secularism increasing, and liberal religion merely echoing secular values and its non-confrontationalism, there will be fewer and fewer people capable of confronting religious evil. And with the ascendance of religious evil, the case for atheism will seem even more compelling.

Dan Abrams
The August 27th broadcast of MSNBC's Live with Dan Abrams slammed CNN's "God's Warriors" as biased shoddy journalism, with host Dan Abrams saying at the outset that the three-part series "was not what it claimed or promised to be." In the segment, titled "CNN's Holy war?", Abrams also said "CNN should have called it what it was, a defense of Islamic fundamentalism and the worst type of moral relativism."

According to Abrams, CNN's Christiane Amanpour, "avoided getting bogged down in objectivity." (See the full video clip below.)

They both nail it great. Abrams has on some Muslima who keeps trying the smoke and mirrors bit, deflect the conversation to the Jews, but Abrams would have none of it. And Dennis Prager is correct in his analysis as well.

Well, I am going out to buy some more ammo now!

Hence, the title of my blog

Geraldo.

'Nuff said.

Quite the discussion going on at hotair (click the main link to go there). He has gone around the bend. Spitting on a co-worker? He should be reprimanded for this.
